Q1. Can you tell us about the SERUMPUN background?

“SERUMPUN “had started officially in 2013. Now, we have 2 branches which are located at Subang Bestari (HQ) and Bukit Jelutong. We have over 50 active teachers whose majority are school teachers and the rest are experienced full-time tuition teachers. Here, the number of students are limited in a classroom so that the learning sessions could be more effective and conducive.

Q2. How is the learning process practice or approaches used in SERUMPUN?

We limit the number of students in a classroom. Therefore, we will ensure that all of the students participate in the learning session. Students will also be given homework’s. If any of the students are still uncertain and do not have clear understanding, we will encourage them to ask questions and interact more with that particular teacher in the classroom. We also hold lots of additional classes and tutorials for free to keep our student’s momentum high.

Q3. Who are the teachers in SERUMPUN?

We have over 50 teachers who are still active teaching in SERUMPUN. The majority of them are school teachers and the rest are experienced full-time tuition teachers. We are firm in choosing our rows of teachers. Teachers need to undergo a few interviews and do some live “Mock Teaching” and only the best are selected to be parts of our family in Serumpun. Proudly to say that most of them are teachers who are examiners, motivators in seminars, head of field and those who are “highly recommended” teachers around Shah Alam and Selangor.

Q4. Are there any given notes?

Yes. We will give notes to the students. All these notes are taken from the books and different teachers uses different style of teaching. There are also teachers who will provide their own notes to these students and some require students to write notes in their own books. Indeed, we do have students enrolled in this tuition simply because they want some notes from our teachers.

Q5. How many students per class?

We make limitation of 18 students per class in Subang Bestari and 12 students per class in Bukit Jelutong. We will ensure that the students will learn in small groups so that more focus of attention can be given by the teachers.

Q6. How do I know my child is improving?

We will hold exams throughout the year to assess the students’ performance. We also hold meetings with parents and teachers in the middle of the year and the results of the examinations are given during that time. Parents can also make an appointment to meet our teachers at any time they want.

We strongly emphasize the discipline of every student. Parents will be promptly notified if their child is late or absent to the classroom. Parents will also be informed if their child has any disciplinary problems and does disrupt the class.

Q7. What about student’s safety?

We use magnetic doors that can only be opened by the staff at the counter. Students are not allowed to leave the tuition center while the class is still running on except with their parental’s permission. Parents will also be notified immediately if their child is late or absent to the classroom. We are very concerned about the safety of SERUMPUN’s students.

Q8. How quickly can I see students’ progress?

Each student is different. Some of them are fast-paced students and some will need times to adjust and improve. Actually, this is more about the ability and willingness of the students to follow the lessons learned and guidance. However, we are very confident that we will be able to see the developments in the students from time to time depending on their individuals’ efforts.

Q9. Can we guarantee that the students will improve?

We cannot guarantee that all of the students will excel in their studies as each student has different potentials and capabilities. We cannot promise an “A”, but we believe there will be an improvement in every students. We are confident to say that many of our former students have succeeded and improved in their exam results after studying here in SERUMPUN. But it depends on the enthusiasm of the students in following our programs and classes which being planned for them.

Q10. What about the performance of SERUMPUN?

Alhamdulillah, all of the students who followed our programs did show a lot of improvement. Many students who joined us at the first place came with low achievement in academic. Plus, some even had scored marks as low as 10% in their subject taken before. Nevertheless, the important thing here is that students show interest, focus in the classroom and are consistent in their passion for learning.

Q11. SERUMPUN will give homework?

Yes. We think homework is very important. This helps students to remember and recall the lessons taught in the classroom. Otherwise, students will forget what they have learnt. Parents should not help students directly in doing their homework. This is because the concept of homework is to train students to be independent and make their own initiative to solve the problems.

But we will make sure that the homework given will not be a burdensome and only comes in sufficient quantities.

Q12. When should the fee be paid?

All fees are due at the beginning of the month and by 6th of every month. All payments are non-refundable or transferable. Students will be notified if the payment is delayed and will be restricted to the class until the fees are cleared.

Q13. Is there a "spot" question for the exam?

Of course. Each year we will invite influential teachers from any institute to give a seminar. According to our experiences, most of the targeted questions taught will come out. However, students are required to master the subject first as they will not be able to answer it all by only memorizing.

Q14. Will there be any classes during public holiday?

No classes will be held during public holidays and we will not replace class. However, students are allowed to enter other groups. But the students need to inform SERUMPUN’s management first.

Q15. Will SERUMPUN do any additional classes?

SERUMPUN will hold some free extra classes throughout the year, especially during the test season and examinations. These classes are very important as they become the main platform to rebuild the past topics in every subject.

Q16. Does too many classes will make the students tired?

Students will be exhausted too if they spend most of their times playing gadgets. So, we replace it by learning something positive. If the students are given the opportunity to choose, the majority of students will choose to play rather than to learn. This is indeed the natural habits of children and by going to tuition classes, students will be taught to prioritize lessons instead of other things.

Students can also relieve their stress but at moderate rates such as exercising during the weekend.

Q17. How about the discipline in SERUMPUN?

We have no disciplinary problems in SERUMPUN. If there is a problem arise, we will warn the student and inform the parents immediately. We also have the right to discontinue the students if they are still not disciplined and in bad mannered attitude.

Q18. Why does SERUMPUN fee is expensive?

Actually, the SERUMPUN fee is affordable based on the market price. If you compare the fees with the services provided in SERUMPUN, the price paid is worth it. Firstly, we limit the number of students per class to ensure the learning process runs effectively. Secondly, the teachers are also paid well because they are very expert and experienced in their fields. Thirdly, the facilities provided at Serumpun is very good. For example, we have surau and resting desk. Besides that, we always care about our students and keep the students happy and enjoyable to study here all the times.

Q19. Can you tell the annual strategy of SERUMPUN?

November and December: The focus will be on reviewing the lessons and reinforcing the fundamentals of important topics.

January – June / July: The focus is to finish up all the syllabus. Preparatory classes will be held during the school season / exam. We will conduct a tour or camp for motivation to instill the good spirit among the students.

July / August-October: Focus on preparing year-end examinations. Seminar Class A, Workshop and intensive classes will be held.

* SERUMPUN will ensure students understand each subject being taught and are ready to take the exams. If we find that students still do not understand because of their weak fundamentals or otherwise, we will hold a FREE reinforcement class to ensure students are not left behind.
